You don't need to get under the car to see the fuel lines, they are attached to the inside of the passenger side frame right next to the engine. Assuming it's an 8 cylinder VIN 2 fuel lines is an LM1, or an L48 if it's a small block, L34, or L35 if it's a big block. Single fuel line could be an LF7, Z28, or L78/L89.
Look at the clutch adjustment rod. Two piece rod with an adjustment nut in the middle of it that is bent 90 degrees where it passes thru the Z-bar is a small block setup. One piece rod that threads into a swivel that in turn fits into the Z bar is a big block setup. (that and the fact that the big block Z rod is 1" longer than a small block rod - of course you have to have a smallblock one to compare to)
Muncie transmission or Saginaw? Look where the speedometer cable goes thru the firewall. If the hole is above the throttle linkage is a Muncie, above the wiring harness connectors is a Saginaw. The hole above the wiring harness is present on all cars, just plugged if a Muncie was installed. Muncie is in SS's and Z28's. Saginaw in everything else.
Count the coils on the hood springs. 26 is a flat hood/ZL2 hood, 28 coils is an SS hood.
