Default Re: ALARM SYSTEMS for Car Storage Building/Garage

My buildings all have infared motions, glass break detectors on every window, magnetic door contacts, smoke detection, rate of rise heat sensors, inside and out sirens, strobes inside and out, security lights on at dusk, off at dawn, 24hr monitoring with call center/police, battery back up AND cell phone transmitting back up in case the phones are cut. Also just put in new security cameras that are able to be checked via the web from anywhere with a computer. Pretty neat. If you get a call, go to your computer and SEE who is there if anybody.

This is most likely overkill , but better safe than sorry! I figure the quicker you scare somebody out the better - before they get to any cars. For what it is worth, I also put Lexan sheets on both the outside and inside of all windows, plus the standard security bars. This keeps projectiles from breaking glass which could in turn hit a car.

I am sure (or sure hope) you live in a better neighborhood than my shop is in , so you could dial it back a bit. But all of it is relatively inexpensive and monitoring is $300/year - well worth it.

Good luck!
Colin
