Heart disease and arterial blockage from poor diet (sclerosis) are known as "diseases of affluence." In other words, since we're a wealthy country we eat all the food we want and then some. Heart disease, artery blockage, bolemia, anorexia nervosa--none of these diseases are found in say, sub-Saharan Africa. Same with acid reflux "disease," which isn't an actual disease, but rather a result of eating high-fat foods and not excercising.
Burp... Oh, excuse me, we just got home from dinner at Tony Roma's. I had the BBQ special and two on-tap brewskis.
