The factory V8 was not a real popular item back then. The motor was shoehorned into the body in such a way that in order to change that back spark plugs, the motor had to be disconnected from the mounts and hoisted up about 6".
Also, the 5 speed transmission had reverse in the top left corner where 1st would be on a 4 speed, and there was no reverse lockout. Test drive was like driving another Vega.
After owning 2 Vegas, and having Berger Chevrolet refuse to come down $300 bucks on a $3300 car, a bought my one and only Ford, a '76 Mustang II MPG. 20 mpg was good back then, and gas was expensive.
