I heard this very same story from Ray Allen a few years ago. He also told me the Mopar camp held there own "Mini Nationals" prior to Indy just to make sure only the top Mopars dominated at the Nationals. Geoff Stunkard wrote a great article in Mopar Performance magazine on this topic a few years ago. He interviewed Jack Werst for the story.
