I spent an entire year trying to find out who bought the Hugger orange/black #1 BM SS427 Phase III GT Vette that Joel owned and must have sold to someone at the NY auto show where it is pictured on the cover and inside of Cars magazine in Nov of 69. So far I can only trace it back as far as Dallas in 72 when a dealer from Tulsa bought it and then sold it to me.
So don't let yourself get too excited about finding anything that far back. Most states Records of older cars are not kept prior to 1982 when they went to the longer vin #'s which makes them easier to trace.
