I disagree. Thieves, crooks, swindlers, and the like have been around for ages. They always find a way, a means, or a forum to try and scam people - whether it is via phone, mail, Ebay, in person, other websites, whatever.
If you inadvertantly buy a bogus restamped Corvette part at the Chevy Vettefest, is the Vettefast the bad guys? Or the actual seller?
Blame it on the scammers, not on some website like Ebay. They can't police everything that is listed and they don't have the knowledge anyway. There's just too much there.
You said it.... buyer beware. It's always been that way, and always will. We all have to educate ourselves well enough to catch a scam before it catches us.
Once Ebay goes away, thieves will find some other method. What did the Nigerians do before email? Now they try email to scam people, is it the fault of the inventor of email? (probably Al Gore invented email too..... maybe it's his fault? That's funny right there... I don't care who you are...)
Anyway, my point of that rant is to suggest that the finger be pointed at the thieves responsible, not to shift the blame to someone else (Ebay).
