Default Re: 1969 Yenko Nova

Anyone notice the SS badging in Marlin's pics?

I remember studying these photos with Marlin at past SCRs and wondering what was up with the tail pan SS being mounted high and off to the left. Note the rear shot, even with the sun glaring badly you can positively identify an SS badge high and to the left.

I've always figured Yenko must have utilized one of the existing holes that were cast into the rear trim panel for the original SS badge, and simply relocated the original SS up and to the left and added his own 427 or Yenko crest emblem down and to the right, much like he did on the 69 Camaro tail pans.

Now if the info regarding the first set of pics is correct, and that they were actually taken very early in the car's life, then my emblem theory may be shot as the SS is absent from the grille, likely as it left Yenko in Canonsburg. I believe the info about the pics to be correct as the original inspection sticker can be seen in the 1st set of pics placed in the middle of the windshield Kentucky style, while later on it is on the driver's side corner corresponding with it's time spent in Indiana.

Perhaps the owner decided to add the SS badge back to the grille, since it was an SS just with a Yenko added 427.

It's just interesting to me that it's definitely different in the 2 sets of pics. Wonder what the tailpan treatment was originally, did Yenko move the SS but keep it like that? Seems like it would be an awful lot of work to drill off a riveted SS emblem only to replace it in a different location. Looks like small 6 cyliner type marker bezels with Yenko's own 427s on the fenders, but also looks like the 427s are above the marker lights not in front which would leave exposed holes where the 396 marker bezels came off.

I'm betting the car had no SS markings when it left Yenko, except for maybe the steering wheel. Any thoughts?
