Hindsight....
What did your dad do with the car while he owned it? Was a daily driver, street racer, weekend warrior.... Any cool stories about outrunning the cops...

It was a daily driver. My dad originally wanted the corvette, but because he was 21, they said there was no way anyone would insure him. The dealer then told him there was a special car that he could order for him that would be every bit as fast and he would be able to get insurance on it.
My dad purchased it right after he got out of the marine corp and kept it a few years while he attended college.
He has told a few stories dealing with cops. One of the funniest ones happened in Hamlin, Texas. He and a friend were at a red light and a cop pulled up beside him. His friend told him that if he didn't floor it, he didn't have any "guts" (not term he acutally used). Light turns green and my dad went through all 4 gears sitting still and the chase was on. My dad a lead on him and he knew a dirt road which led to a bridge you could park under and not be seen. Well, he slowed down just enough to make the turn, he thought. Instead, he ended up high-centering in the ditch. By the time the cop arrived, my dad and his friend were sitting on the trunk waiting.
The cop took my dad to jail, but ended up making a deal with him. There was a kid out there with 3 warrents. The cop told me dad that if he brought that kid in, they would just give him a ticket for exhibition of excelleration. My dad went and found the guy and told him he needed to go and turn himself in. The guy said he knew, but he wasn't going to. My dad ended up grabbing the guy, dragging him to his car, and hauling him to the Hamlin jail...
