Default Re: Starter overheating question

[ QUOTE ]
Im having a problem with the starter on my 68z turning real slow when hot. (Heat soak) Do starter heat shields work at all or should i just buy a hi torque mini starter? Thanks

If your engine is turning over slowly, then it probably isn't a solenoid problem. When a solenoid is heat soaked it won't engage the starter. Regarding it turning over slowly, as been stated check for corrosion at connections which can reduce cranking current. John Pirkle can rebuild your starter with a high torque winding, which will solve your problem and keeps your car looking original.
