I had Kelsey Wide Tread GT repop tires that got a waxy buildup after about 10 yrs. I thought it was buildup of dressing (Meguiars #40)that had been used over the years. Only ever wiped them down with the Meg's. Anyway I went to clean the tires and nothing worked...Bleche White, Eagle Tire cleaner, scrubbed with Dawn and hot water and even resorted to the old days of lacquer thinner and brake fluid....nothing worked. There was a can of WD40 setting there so I thought, why not? It worked great and tires looked really good without any dressing. If you had told me it would work I'd have thought no way.
