Years ago there was talk of a proposed Air & Space Museum on the site of the pavilion but there was
worry due to pile foundation deterioration. They were fearful of collapse if anything was done without
major reconstruction. I haven't heard anything on this in years.
The Space Park was badly deteriorated but some of the rockets were restored and put back on display
a few years ago. I remember they used the park for overflow parking at Shea Stadium during the
eighties. They would park you on the grass in-between the rockets.
The Heliport has been used as a banquet / wedding facility for at least the last 30 years.
The former NYC building still houses a fantastic model of the entire city of New York and is now also
the home of the Queens Museum of Art.
Most of what's left is just used as a park with the sidewalks serving as walking trails. The fountains at
the Unisphere are only filled and flowing during the tennis US Open.
