Default Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

I had a great Muscle car day yesterday:-)

Popped out a couple more bushings, just used a press with a cup under the control arm, two slices of pipe to prevent the arm from collapsing, and a turned down shaft to push out the bushings:-)

I visited Teff-Line in Burlington they do dry media blasting (no sand) in huge blasting rooms, they also do liquid paint coatings, and dry coatings. They have nice big ovens for powder coating. I was impressed with the facility. It is not a show factory due to the dirtiness of the blasting area, but the rep had good knowledge and seemed to understand the results I am after. After I complete the final control arm bushing removal I will send pictures of the black items all side by side and all the grey items side by side so he can give an accurate price. I have a detailed list of items but I need to confirm with an Olds expert which parts should be black and which should be grey.

Then I stopped at Antique Chevrolet Parts and had a few items quoted. (I didn't even know this place had moved from Oakville to outside Cambridge)

Then I visited Dave (Northerforce) he donated trailing arms to my restoration project:-) Just to top off his Canadianism, he had AC Delco spark plug tools for myself and for Jamie:-) How cool is that?

Then after that I called Nick Morocco on the way home to chat shifters, he has the trans wrapped up and we are close to deciding on the shifter, I think we will use one of his Hurst Competition Plus shifters to get going and "see how it feels" Kind of a Demo:-)

This got me thinking about pressure plates and clutches again, so I got out one of the pressure plates Al gave me, a Borg and Beck three finger style, I could barely press one of the fingers down by standing on it:-) Should be great in traffic:-) I have yet to remove the bellhousing off the extra engine to see what clutch, pressure plate, flywheel are inside:-) (Need to find out soon)
