This car may have been dealer lot ordered for the "frugal" buyer, but if it was sold in a hot climate the A/C was going to be the selling point.
There were plenty of stock order 283 3 on the tree vehicles sold up here in the early/mid 60's. My dad bought a'66 Malibu new, off the lot, with that combo, no power anything and the next year a new lot bought '67 C10 with 283 3 on the tree, no power anything. Bunch of cheap Scandinavians lived around here back then...
