With all that original documentation, it would sure be a shame if the original engine is junk.

No plastic on the shifter. The tube is, most likely, flash chromed and the finger pull is pot metal, which would require a better chroming procedure. It does look weird though.
It must have sat in a humid environment. The rust on the instrument panel is a concern. As bad as the quarters, trunk floor and tail panel are rusted, I'd bet the frame is damaged as well.
