When I was in college back in the 80's a buddy of mine had a 69 Cutlass S as his first car. We slowly transformed it to a W-31 clone. He even constructed a set of the under-bumper air scoops using a coffee can and fiberglass resin. It was very effective - you could really tell the difference on a cool evening. He had the right intake and cam for the engine, but not the high flow heads, and because of this the compression ratio was also too low to perform like a real W-31 would have. It was a good looking, fun car though. One of the little tweaks that we did to the car was to bolt on the big front sway bar from a late-70's WS6 Trans Am. It was a direct bolt-on, and it really leveled out the car in the turns.
