Default Garage Find - 1967 Corvette 427/390 38k miles

Hi All, those who follow Dave and I on Facebook were in for an early treat as you may have seen some photos I uploaded from the road today - one of those car days you're thrilled to share with family and you'll never forget!

A real garage find.

On 6/7/16 LuzL78 (Jeff Luzzi) made a thread [link below] about a 1967 Corvette L71 435 garage find he was going to inspect. We connected by way of the thread and chatted about Vettes around that time. He was working the deal and I respected that/did not want to interfere but offered if he wanted to sell to please keep me mind. Fast forward to February 2017 - Jeff gave me a call and said the car is not an L71 but in fact an L36 [390hp] and would I be interested? The background was an all original motor, trans, rear, body, paint, interior, sitting for almost 40 years. Lyndale blue with a teal interior. Dave nor I have met Jeff but he is true gentleman and shows all characteristics of a hobbyist. Not only did Jeff provide photos and info to us without hesitation, but also he handed us the lead on the car free of charge after he decided not to pursue further. Jeff, thank you!

Last weekend Dave and our father went to visit with the owner and to inspect the Corvette. I was out of town at a prior commitment. Dave reviewed all important details confirming what Jeff had shared. 1967 Corvette Convertible, L36, M21, 3.70s, original body, original interior, original paint and original vin and trim tag. 38k original miles. Two owner, second of which was such since 1978. Sitting since 1980 in the same small garage. The car is documented by the tank sheet (still on the tank), and protect-o-plate. It was sold new from Dooley Brothers Chevrolet in Florham Park, NJ. Options are power brakes.

Our plan is to get her tuned up and running well and clean mildly and appropriately as we prepare to show it for the NCRS Bowtie, Bloomington Survivor/Benchmark, and MCACN survivor judging. We’re confident with some fun weekends ahead we’ll be able to bring her back to top level survivor status. Dave and I would like to send special thanks to Tim Gilmore, and Steve Bramati for fielding our many questions. We’re very much still overwhelmed with excitement. A quick couple stories from today – two neighbors of the second owner stumbled past, one with tenure of 15yrs on the block, the second with tenure of 20 years on the block. Both car guys. Neither had seen the garage doors open prior to today. They literally had no idea the Corvette was behind the doors!

Enjoy the photos – much more to come on the progress…

Regards,
Dan and Dave (72-SS-L48)
