Disclaimer I'm not going to paint mine at the moment so I'm not too concerned if I have to massage/roll the outer lip to gain clearance. If you narrow the rear you may hit the inner wheel tubs with a big tire. The guy in the photo is using stock tubs and a non-narrowed rear, I don't know what they did as far as the outer lip clearance. I do know for a stock setup for 67/68 people are running 17x9.5" with 5.5" backspace 275/40/17 and that's just about the biggest without problems but that fitment is tight with no tire bulge.
