Another trip to Ohio
On April 7th, Scott Mancini flew me out for a week to do some work on his amazing 13K mile Expresso Brown '69 Grand Prix SJ 4-speed. The main goal was to make the car reliable and get everything working properly so he could start driving it more. The first concern given the low mileage was the original nylon timing gear and replacing it with an NOS GM steel timing gear set. The original water pump was rebuilt and radiator re-cored (Scott removed those items and had them ready to go prior to my arrival). All of the original hoses, tower clamps and belts were in great shape and were reused. An NOS Delco Remy point set was installed along with new dated plug wires. We also rebuilt the carb and tuned the engine to factory specs. The temp gauge had never worked since he bought the car, I found a loose nut at the main feed temp gauge post for the printed circuit board, easy fix and works perfectly now. Lastly, we charged the a/c and got it working as well. We did a few other small repairs as well. Everything went well and it was a treat to work on such a low mileage car. This car really runs and drives like a new car, very smooth and powerful.
