Because it bumps ads down that were recently posted. This is not fair to other selling their items. Your question should not put an older ad on the top. Sellers can bump their ads to the top as specified in the classified guidelines.

Here are the changes/enhancements implemented in 2019 and the why:

Noted changes:
• The originator of the ad can bump their ad after 10 days. The bump icon is only viewable by the originator.. If you select the bump icon prior a prompt will show the remaining day until a bump can be executed. See Illustration below.
• The originator of the ad can now mark an item sold. The sold icon is only viewable by the originator. If you select the sold icon it is moved to a sold archive folder, so only active ads are viewed. The sold archive folder is viewable and used as a historical record. See Illustration below.
• Members can post a comment on other members ads, and no longer inadvertently bump ads. In the past we discouraged commenting but that is no longer an issue. Members posting on other ads should contain questions seeking information
and as always no bashing due to price. If something is mis-advertised pm a moderator.
• Classifieds threads will now have a photo. This photo is the first photo the originator uploads.
