A couple Cool GTO options.

“Red Plastic Fender Liners” were available for two years (66-67).

A dealer promotional photo showing the Red Liners on a ‘66.

Back in the late 70’s I found several sets in wrecking yards complete with the phillips head sheet metal screws with their large fender washers and black plastic protective caps.

The screws that secured the “Front” liners to the inner fender skirts protruded into the engine bay and could easily cut a hand or snag a cloth, therefore the black plastic protective caps were threaded onto the screws.

These thin plastic liners were easily damaged, either from larger tires, road tar, or constant use on gravel roads.

“Walnut Shift knob” was available for (66,67,68).

This was a great looking knob, but had an awkward feel to it, especially during hard shifting, opposed to the user friendly round knobs.

Here is my NOS knob which came in an envelope dated 2-26-67.

Note all the differences between the OEM knob (left) compared to the reproduction knob on the (right).
