Why would you "restore" a rare(ish) car and spray bed liner on the under side?

If it's all original sheet metal it seems to have made it the past 49 years in decent shape without bed liner.
I know some guys say it helps deaden road noise, but when I read this it makes me think there were a lot of rust pinholes and maybe sections of metal welded in, and this thick stuff does a good job of hiding it. If I am going to go to the trouble to put a car up on a rotisserie, I am going to want the underside to look nicer than a pickup truck bed.
