Evolution performance of Delaware county pa has a loaded 6 speed 5.0 GT and they have it down to 12.48 @ 113 at atco with ET streets tires and upper control arms to stop the wheel hop. NO other things done to it yet. They are shooting for the 10's with a light addition of nos and a tune and slicks. Sweet. These cars are going to rule the streets.

Once these times get widespread attention and hit the magazines, Ford will again sell a TON of 5.0 Mustangs, but the good news is GM will definitely take notice.!!!

I think it's great news. The 4.6 was a good motor but we all know the Mustang needed more and the 5.0 will get-er-done.
Hopefully GM will get off their duffs and lighten the Camaro up.

They're starting to trickle into the dealers already. Might take some effort to find one, but they're out there.

The Challenger in particular needs to make the call to Weight Watchers. The 4.6 wasn't as bad as some people tried to make it out to be, and actually in some respects was a very impressive engine. But for some reason, I'm not nearly as upset about it's departure as I was when my dearly beloved pushrod SBF bowed out after '95. |

I agree that both need to trim some fat.
From what I have read...the Camaro was roughly 300 pounds heavier than the Mustang and the Challenger weighed more than the Camaro.

Our '10 Camaro was 3840 without anyone in the seat...dead nuts on 4000lbs with dad in it.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: old5.0</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Update on this.
With a drop in filter, tune, Borla axleback, rear suspension, Bogarts and slicks: </div></div> Those Bogarts are a serious drag wheel setup...what size wheels/tires/brakes do the Mustangs come with? On the '10 Camaros you have to do a complete brake "downgrade" to get them to fit...without a brake change, I believe an 18" wheel is as small as you can go? A guy could really pick up some et/mph from simply getting away from the huge 20" wheels/tires... |
