Default D80 Question

When did spoilers become standard on Z/28s? When did D80 consistently appear on trim tags? Could a May car have spoilers, but no D80 on trim tag?

I think the spoilers were required after April 1st of '69.

No D 80 in 68. It is on the POP. It was dropped from the tag in late 69

My 05A x77 car has spoilers and no D80 on the trim tag. I believe it was mandatory after April 1st as they raised the price of the Z/28 to reflect the addition of spoilers. Started appearing on trim tags the end of May.

My 05C X77 (Made on May 15) has spoilers and no D80.

The D80 marking had to do with the arrival of Firebird Trans Am production to the Norwood plant that came there in mid May. The needed a way to keep the trunk lid apart from each other. Different holes for the spoilers

My O5B X44 car. Came with spoilers, but nothing on the trim tag. NO D80. I even talked to the orginal owner, who bought the car new off the lot. I got pics to prove it. BBBenny

The D80 was never on the POP. The D80 started showing up on trim tags in late May and continued through the end of production. The spoiler was included in the Z28 RPO in April of 69.
