Where does the part number 3916234 appear on the unit?? I can see the #174...
Or maybe the better question is...how do you identify a copo unit from a regular 4 series carrier?? thanks..wilma

Doesn't the Copo have different spider gears & clutch pack ? I have seen a heavy duty 3 series with the square hole in it aswell..

The COPO carrier carries the same casting # as the standard 4 series carrier, the actual PN does not appear on the unit.
The clutch pack is not COPO specific. Here is what is. The side gears, spider gears and thrust washers, the springs and spring plates. And the housing is machined for the larger spider gear and thrust washers. Great unit How many COPO Camaros and Chevelles out there have the good stuff inside, not that many.. |

Matt, were you able to get the part numbers off the gears to authenticate correctly that this is a coop rear? Or I guess the gears are substantially thicker by looking at them?

There's no part numbers on the gears. You just have to go by shape and tooth count. This also has the correct spring plates and springs which are unique to the COPO units as well. This also has a known COPO assembly date.

Thanks guys. It's priced to move. I'd rather see it end up in a COPO car where it belongs than languish around on my garage shelf.

I had to provide photos once after a show when I got the call from the head judge ....and welcomed the request. It's nice to know what you have is real. GLWS
