Reminds me of a story Paul Newman once told. He and Bob Sharp, who got him started in road racing and used to own a VW dealership in Greenwich/Westport Connecticut, had a couple of bugs done up in the mid-70s. One had a 911 engine in the back and the second was a mid-engined small block Chevy. They used to go terrorize the muscle car guys in the area.

As the story goes, one time they came upon a hopped up Nova (if I remember right) at a stop light. Both Bugs got by the guy in the Nova so badly that Newman says he saw the Chevy driver pull into the local VW dealership!!!
