Default Raceway Park

Hi guys, if all goes well this week Old Bridge Township Raceway Park will be opening for its 40th season. The bad weather has delayed pouring the concrete for the new starting line, but, now it is done and I am looking forward to visits from all of you. Hope to see you there! Andrew

Andrew, you sound like you are part of Raceway park, is that correct?

I plan on attending a new cruise night or two

Cruise Nights Coming to Raceway Park in 2005
With 2005 being the 40th year of operation for the Englishtown facility, what would be better than to host a monthly cruise night for all four wheel vehicles? There will be five dates to start. All Tuesday evenings with the first one being May 10th. They will continue until September. Plenty of great things are planned including one free run down the famous RP ¼ mile dragstrip for those who have registered to participate. Great food, beer, vendors, and activities will take place. The runs down the racetrack should be a major draw to all the cruisers and cruisettes alike. The dates for cruise nights at RP are Tuesday evenings May 10th, June 7th, July 12th, August 9th,and September 13th. We hope to see you all out there in 2005. For more Information or an on-line flyer as it becomes available go to www.racewaypark.com.

I was wondering if the anti-freeze/catch can rules apply these nights? A lot of cruise catagory cars would not pass regular tech inspections. How are you going to handle that aspect?

Thanks! Maybe we will see you there, whatcha driving

I guess you could say Andrew is the ever present "voice from above" at E-town! Kinda like the Wizard of Oz...you may not see him, but you'll hear him! And when in doubt, look up!

Andrew: new concrete? Unbelievable! Improving on arguably the best facility in the nation... Combine the new grip with the mineshaft air y'all get, and breakin' records will be as easy as fallin' outta bed! This yellow car of ours might go 114+ out there on the coast!

The cruise nights look great, the reason for the anti-freeze rules are mostly for regular racing, just make sure to have a temp overflow and that everything is secure and it should not be a problem

Did anyone else see the blurb in Hot Rod about Raceway Park possibly closing due to noise complaints from the locals? I'm glad to see operations are back!

Our local drag strip, Long Island Motorsports Raceway, closed a couple of years ago. It was located in Westhampton and wasn't the best facility in the world, but it was a place to "run" your car without having to drive to New Jersey. One of the reasons for it's closing, was the huge amounts of noise complaints. It had gotten so bad that the track would not allow you to run "open headers" and if by chance you came to the track without mufflers, they added another $20.00 to your admission fee.

That kinda thing is happening all across the country, even here in Missouri. MoKan over in western Missouri has been going through this the past few years...it's out in the middle of nowhere, but a doctor (not local to the area) bought several acres a couple miles from the track and used it just for hunting. Well, that's big duck hunting country, and he pitched a fit because he could hear the track in the distance while he was duck hunting. So, he kept filing lawsuits and injunctions and what not trying to get the place shut down, after it's been there pert-near forever. The guy all but bankrupted the track, but it's still in business, for now...

Yes, Mos,
That's all over and done with for now. Central NJ is filling up with yuppies buying their $500.000 Mc Mansions on 1/2 acre lots with $10K tax bills and suddlenly, they're "in charge", or so they feel they are. They never drove around the block to see the racetrack, and the realtor never told them about it. They put pressure in the Assemblymen and they brought the pain to bear on E-Town, thinking they would garner votes by the complaining few. Well they had a public meeting, and ALL of the opposing factions were literally shouted down. The worthless polititians found enough working brain cells to realize they would get more votes "out of office" then in, so they pulled the bill.
E-Town will remain!
The next thing you know, these worthless scum that wanted to move to the "country" will be sueing the farmers because the rosters are crowing in the morning................
