Default bbbennys COPO

Benny has been looking for his original BE rear for years. He contacted the previous owners and they contacted people who new people who might have some info. Always a wild goose chase!! Then at last some real info surfaced. A guy with a 1969 326 firebird had it in his car with 488's from the original owners drag racing days. Yes Bennys car was Day 2 in less than a few minutes from the showroom! After a long (18mths) negotiation with the Dr. that owned the firebird he became the new owner of the rear. Finally!!! Don't ask what he had to give for it. I bet it was way,way more that the Firebird was ever worth. When ever you really want something you have to pay. The gentlemen that owned the car knew this so the price was high, even though the man never cared about his car. The neat part of this whole long story is that when he brought the rear back from Ohio and started to take it apart he realized that his 9000 mile car with its 9000 mile rear had the ORIGINAL brake shoes still attached! That was a great find. He cleaned the rear and restored the shoes for a quality job. You just never know what is out there. ALL leads must be followed. Way to go BBBBenny and the Jets!

I told Benny that everybody has seen his car in its factory original condition. I am trying to convince him that taking it to Day-2 would be fun and interesting. The car was in drag racing form very early in its life. A set of headers, slapper bars, fiberglass flex fan, vintage drag slicks, Cragars or Ansens with the skinnies up front, and a steering column tach would do it! Come on Benny, it is the nature of your BEAST! What do you guys think???

Frank, You have NO problems. All the parts are basically bolt ons. Only real expense is the headers and exhaust. I would take your whole exhaust off and replace it with headers and a less expensive exhaust system. Then everything would stay intact. Manifolds, smog and complete system. Just store it away. I have everything for my Z/28 in the attic. Fortunately the original and second owner of Bennys car put everything in the corner for 35 years. That is a story in itself. Just think how bad you will beat Marlin with a few mods to your deuce! Whoops, I may be in trouble now.
