Hi Bruce,
Back in 1981, my first son was born and was driven home in a true 1969 SS 396 Camaro which was Lemans Blue with hockey stick stripes and a blacked out tail pan and rockers. It was a wicked ride. Needless to say, not to long after that the car had to go. I think I got around $2800 bucks for the car. Not a day went by for 22 years that I didn’t think about that car. Fast forward... I start looking for my car. Not a chance, no way. So I started looking at other cars. I couldn’t believe the prices. It was shocking to me... true ss cars were 20 grand and they needed a resto, wow! I was a bit depressed, so I figured okay, I will find the most solid car I can find and build it exactly as my old car. I found a 69 307 pg with a 10 bolt pegleg in Laplata, Maryland. It was a running car and was solid as a rock with no rust anywhere. The interior was all original and the whole car was a time capsule basically. It even came with p.o.p and interesting old papers. The guy wanted 6 grand I went with a trailer and picked it up. That was 3 years ago. We started immediately and pulled the entire drive train. We had Mc Betts Racing of Copaigue, build a 383 10:1 pushing around 500 horses then had Ed Hartnett from Lansdowne, Pa. build a autogear Muncie M22 trans. I then popped in a 12 bolt Brute Force posi with 4:10 gears. Then I sent the car out to the resident maniac to do the body (Ed Ross from Westbury, NY). It came out really nice. He did a beautiful job with the car. The car is out every weekend and I am having a real blast driving this thing. It feels like I never got out of the old one and I couldn’t be happier. With all the beautiful super cars in the Members Ride section thanks for considering my car. Vince.......... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice ride. Cool story. Good on you for the perseverance of your dream car. Lemans blue is very nice. Old school traction bars are a nice touch.

Vince,
Very nice, what a great looking ride. Are those 15 x 10's on the rear? |
