FYI, bigger Hemi may be coming:
Muscle cars Hemi displacement stretching to 6.6 liters? DaimlerChrysler has already confirmed that it will build the new Dodge Challenger and arm it with a 6.1-liter, 425hp Hemi V-8, the same rating as the legendary street Hemi of 1966-1971. The car itself is based on the wildly popular Chrysler 300, but has styling cues from the original 1970 Challenger. DaimlerChrysler has one-upped GM which, while announcing a new Camaro, has not officially given us a production date. However, the new Challenger will be offered to the public in 2008. Now, sources tell Hemmings Motor News that DaimlerChrysler engineers are working on a 6.6-liter Hemi V-8 for the Challenger. Details were not available, but a source told us the new engine should really put the Challenger over the top and that company officials want to come out of the gate with a real performance car. We have driven some SRT8 vehicles and they are formidable performers. - By George Mattar
