Default 69 l88 conversions

rough ball park, how many vettes and camaros/chevelles/novas would have been L88 converted (ordered new car wise) in 69? not a customer's car conversion brought in, but ordered brand new. would vettes be the rarity?

if vette would they start with a 435 hp car?
if they reused a big block to build the l88 would they have left the front pad alone?

if camaro/chevelle/nova would they start with a 375hp all the time? what would be on the front pad of the new block they installed?

curious bob...

They would have used a L88 Long block or sometimes a shortblock with ported iron heads. The Engine Assembly would have been outfitted most likely with an aftermarket intake and holley...

the reason I asked was I got a vin from an original owner to an 69 l88 conversion, I just wondered what would be on the block, if I find the car. for now, it seems like it could have anything on the pad, but should be a 512 block period correct (69 date code).

Most likely no VIN (99.999%)... the block probably would have been a CE stamped.
