Default Surviving the Storm

Heavy, heavy rains in most of the midwest. How's everyone doing?

Dennis,

Record breaking rain fall in the Chicago area....I`ve been indoor with the family all weekend, hunkered down. Been babysitting my sump pump. So far so good...no water in basement and garage Seems like my grass grew 3 inches in 48 hours

Dan.

I knew you guys got hit hard. We're just past 7" at present and they're telling us to brace for three more before evening.

Lots of waterfront property around us right now,................. and our indoor pool at the lower level isn't exactly what we were looking for. But it could be a lot worse. No damage yet,.... just some minor inconveniences.

Friends of mine living in Franklin Park were asked to evacuate.Anyone living closer to the city along the Chicago river is in trouble as it crested overnight. They had to open the locks to Lake Michigan, which lowered it 10".Viaducts are flooded all over the place.
Some Football games will be quite amusing today.Just hold onto the ball and you win.
We broke that August,1987 24 hour record rainfall of 6.49".They say we got 6.69" so far and now reminants of Hurricane Ike are coming down ontop of that.
On a happier note,my dog has got new life in her & simply loves this weather. She is jumping in every retention pond she can find and wants to play with the geese.
Wanna go for a walk?....

I'm sitting here in the Midway Airport pilot lounge watching the rain come down in buckets. Also wishing I had brought my raincoat today for the walk around.

I hope the best for those along the Texas coast. It looks bad.

We are stuck in a drought here in GA. I can't believe that all these 'canes are going around us.

150 miles from where the storm came ashore and Austin didn't receive a drop of rain. They cancelled the UT/Arkansas game because everyone thought that we would have a category 2 storm here, but the only thing we received was a cloudy Saturday.

Now we know why they had the most rainfall ever recorded.

It was beautiful when we were there!
