Default Cool 1970 Jegs Race Car Team Book & Pictures

Went down to Columbus, Ohio this weekend & spent a day with Doug Perry (SYC Member: hugger69copo). Stopped in a local antique mall in the area and bought this Jegs automotive race car team book from 1970. I have never seen one of these before. The book was in mint shape and has lots of cool pictures of old race cars.. Thought I would post some of the pictures... Enjoy...

Rich

I see that Dick Aron's had something to do with the Bobb Camaro. On of the coolest Camaros we ever restored was the Arons/Foust Berger Chevrolet 427 Camaro..BKH

Doug, I was wondering if that 427 Camaro from Bobb Chevrolet was originally a COPO car but I noticed the SS badge on the fender. Probably started life as an SS396 car and was converted to a 427 to race... I'll bet Dave knows about this car... Wouldn't it be nice to find where some of these cars are today???

Rich, that is the same car that Dave McGaffe turned into an RS car, it originally started out as an X66 car 396/375 when it left Bobb Chevrolet, and Jeg's transplanted the 427. If you notice the photo it has SS Badges on it. I spoke to a guy, I think from New Jersey, about 9 months ago about some parts, and he told me had an LS6 Chevelle and this car he was restoring as a real COPO car, I don't think he was to happy when I told him what I knew about the car, I also gave him Dave McGaffe's phone # to call and to confirm the story. To date Dave has said no one has called. OOPS. Doug

------Reading all the cool stuff here you might get the idea that Greg was a fairly prolific painter and you would be right. He was!!! "Paint by Greg" adorned many, many fenders back in the day, and not just drag cars. There were tons of street brawlers around with his touch as well. It was always a dream back then to give him a car but I never had the chance.......Bill S

Very nice catalog! The pictures represent the era of "buy em and race em" The old catalogs really help with the Day-2 parts and how they were set up. A great find!

Doug, I remember the conversation with Dave about an RS Camaro but I did not know it was actually this car.. Pretty Cool... See, I knew he knew something about it!! You were right about him...

Just curious, Doug. Why are there SS badges on the fenders but no "396" call outs by the side marker lights?
BTW, what about a certain '68 L78 'vert that Bobb sponsered? Any pics of it?

Just so everybody knows, Bobb Chevrolet is no more. They closed earlier this year.
