Default Muncie part needed

Does anyone have a few good used or know where to get replacement Muncie 4-speed detents like the one shown? This detent is used when shifting into reverse and is mounted within the shifter mechanism.

Is this the one that goes into the side cover?

Last time I asked Eric he did not have any.

This goes into the shifter mechanism itself. The shifter handle is bolted to a lever that controls all the shifter sleeves. When going into reverse, this is the detent that you feel against the shifter handle. Hard to explain.

Rick, Have you tried the guy from Oklahoma named Chevy Ray? He restored my muncie shifter beautifully and told me that he has a lot of the parts for them.

I know this piece... this was in the 67-68 Camaro Muncie shifters correct?

Did you ask Jody Anderson? Or who was the Muncie guy in Farmington?

I might have an extra one at home, but I won't be back until next weekend. They were used I believe starting in 68. They were the same in both the Muncie and Saginaw 4 speed Shifters.

Thanks for all the leads both on and off line. I will follow up on them. The part number that I need is either 3984548 (1st design) or 6271627 (2nd design and superceded number). Thanks to Chris White for calling me with the numbers.

I bought a box of the Niagara 835 orange plastic caps that go over this assembly. I can't remember but I think I have 700 of them.

What shifter are you working on? The photo you have looks like the second design. The first design has the ball bearings and the retaining spring that always breaks. I might have some extra parts for the first design.
