Here, I'll save ya the trouble...it only made 250 horsepower...so they junked it, and put in a REAL engine!

No problem...do you know exactly who's engine it was? (Bob K, Spetzman, Jensen/Weymouth maybe?) If it was one of the Pure Stock guys, I could rattle their cage & see if they've got any extra copies...

Rob - am looking for a real world reference for HP and TQ for a stock engine. A 1970 440 6 pack configuration is ideal but a '69 or '71 will do. Am assuming they were underestimating at least the HP at 390. Seems like they could push a lot of air thru those engines for just 390. FYI, TQ is factory rated at 490 lb ft. Those mid-size M Code 69.5 Bees and Runners could scoot and wax a Hemi w/ no prob.

Thanks,
Sam

I'm sure a Bob K setup 440-6 engine would better the factory HP/TQ ratings, but in a stock configuration (ex. manifolds & such) the numbers aren't gonna overwhelm a lot of people...I'm not saying that as a slam, I'm saying those things are super efficient and are over achievers. I certified our L72 back in '01 along side Bob K's 440-6 car, and while he was envious of the bbc's port/valve size, I was amazed at how relatively "mundane" the guts of that 440-6 were...tiny ports, smallish valves, a smooth hydraulic cam...nothing you'd except to see in a race car, but a potent package, and big trouble for folks that don't know any better! Check your pm's...

Sam...give Bob Ashton a shout! Unless he's gotten rid of his magazine collection...he's got every magazine (related to cars) known to man...
