Anyone know what this engine code/suffix translates to?? Motor is a 396 in a 1968 Chevelle SS and appears to be #s matching. Large stamped numbers are: T0515ED & smaller stamped numbers are: 18K213930. I know the last six numbers on the smaller stamped numbers are the last 6 of the VIN... Car has a factory four speed.
Thanks SYC Rich ![]()

T=Tonawanda
05=May 15=Day..when the engine was deemed a single assembled self running unit. ED=L-35 M/T 396/325Hp. code exclusive to Chevelle/Elco.only. 1=Chevrolet 8=Last digit of model year,1968 K=Kansas City,Mo.Leeds plant built Chevelle/Elcaminos only that year. 213930=comes up on the line as a mid to late May 1968 assembled Chevelle/Elco. See if the cowl tag date correlates with it.. |
