Default Early 70's Chevrolets on Game Shows

I just posted a compilation of some of the early 1970's Chevrolets given away on "Let's Make A Deal". Interesting to see how the crowd reacts to some of these cars! Especially interesting (to me anyway) is how the these cars looked when new , especially the "stance". Anyway, there's a Chevelle ragtop, Camaros, Monte Carlo, Blazer , and lots of Vegas...

Working on more Chevrolet compilations, along with Pontiacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chryslers, Cadillacs (etc.) compilations coming soon.

Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouNcv9e6Ko8

Man 2k for a base 72 Vega, those were better times for the General. I grew up three houses down from Carol Merrill during those days-she was a hottie and always sporting a new GM car..

That's some really nice clips you've put together. One of my favorites was the 1972-75 game show Split/Second,produced by the the same who did LMAD.
Three contestants answered questions at split second speed. At the end of the show, the largest daily points winner had a chance at owning one of 7 new vehicles, revealed behind the back drop.
They had to walk around and open the door to start the ignition key on one car of their choice. If it started, they won it!..if not, they came back the next day to try to be the big points winner again, and if they were they would exclude that previous vehicle, knowing full well it wasn't going to start.
As long as the same winner kept coming back, they would narrow down the field of cars more each day.

"Split Second" was one of the greatest game shows ever! It was formatted a bit like "Jeapordy", but was very fast paced, and a LOT more exciting. I believe they always had 5 Pontiacs to choose from (one for each day fo the week), and the show was on in the early-mid-1970's. I recall once seeing a contestent choose between a 74 Trans Am and a 74 GTO!. Usually, the contestant would pick a Grand Prix or Bonneville, the most expensive models.

The show ran its course, but I read where it was brought back by popular demand in the 80's, but it wasn't the same format, and it failed. I believe it was another Monte Hall show. I think I also read where the original Split Second shows were taped over , so they will never show them again. I think there's 1 or 2 clips on YouTube if anyone wants to see the format. It was an excellent game show.

I thought it was 7 vehicles to mix it up a bit..but you might be right.
Was it only Pontiacs?..I thought I remembered a Chevrolet here & there.

Very cool. Not sure if you have it but I remember a LMAD that gave away a, it had to be a '72, I think as it was copper, SS Chevelle. Black hood stripes, hood pins. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was.

Thanks guys. I'll notify everyone again when I get more videos up.

Some of the funniest clips from "Let's Make A Deal" are when they gave away "clunkers", or what Monte Hall used to call "zonks", which were joke cars. He would sometimes say, "You won a Cadillac!", the curtain would open up, and it would be a cow with a Cadillac sign hanging on its sides. One of these "zonk" deals was actually a 49 Cadillac needing a restoration.
