Default ? for the Scottsdale car show veterans....

OK, I'm going to be back in Phoenix Jan 15-26th for vacation. While I'm from Phoenix, for some inexplicable reason (maybe the heat got to me), I was never attended many of the car shows.

As there are several going on during this time, what do you recommend I attend throughout the week?

I plan on hitting the Pavillions on Sat Jan 23rd, in an attempt to sell my '68 442 whose restoration has just finished (don't ask--I don't want to sell it, but have no choice ).

What Charley said, and for a free show, go to the Scottsdale Pavillions on Saturday starting around 4:00 or so. There will be at least a couple of hundred cars there on Saturday.

A little different during B-J auction week. Throughout the day there will probably be 1500 cars there. People will start rolling in very early Saturday morning to get a parking spot.

The Pavillions will most likly have the largest number of high quaility cars for sale or show during the auctions.
4:00? better be there in the morning..... last all day and into the night... oh and no gate admission or buyer/seller fees/sales tax.
The best place to see or buy a high quality car.

Yep...if you haven't got a space staked out by 6:30am you'll be out of luck!

Barrett-Jackson and Russo and Steele are the places to be Tom!

Thanks guys.

I noticed that tickets for Barrett-Jackson are a lot cheaper for days earlier in the week. Is this simply because the big dollar cars aren't for auction until Sat/Sun? Or is it just because it's a weekday and fewer people are able to attend?

While I'm not bidding on any cars, I would like to see the top auction cars. I guess I'm just not sure what day the cars will arrive (they all need to be there by Tues, or not).

I'm definitely doing the Pavillions on Sat, and it looks like I'll be there nice and early! So, my auction attendance will need to be Tues-Fri or Sun.

I was there last year and will be back. It was -15º here in WI and 75º in AZ at the time. My snowbird buds tell me that even for AZ that was unusually warm. So don't count on the same weather.

We went to Pavillions and were blown away. Regulars said there were about 900 cars there. I did a rough estimate based on spots x aisles and it could be true. Like most cruise nites they do not allow for sale signs. Many cars I looked at had sale info discreetly placed inside.

We also did Russo-Steele. Unlike B-J general admission does not get you into the auction tent; bidders only. But it really doesn't matter as cars are in line for some time. R-S also has lousy food & drink availability. It is really dry out there. You have to buy a drink "ticket" for $5 I believe then go to the bar where it is good for anything-even a Coke. At B-J there is plenty of resonably priced food & drink. B-J is far bigger and has more vendors & displays. There is another auction that weekend at the AZ Biltmore but it appears to be cats & dogs; few if any musclecars.

It was a great time-can't wait!

The Pavillions is an outdoor shopping plaza. It's at the 101 Freeway and Indian Bend exit. The show is on the North side nearest the McDonalds parking lot.
