Default Day 2 front runners value?

I was considering selling these but have no clue what they are worth, they came with a old worn out drag car I bought, Keystone front wheels in quite nice shape I do not think they were ever run other than a few times down the track, 15X6 with the off set they look narrower about a inch lip the tires are bias HOOD 400 8.25x15 the chrome on the aluminum is not perfect has some nics but the shine is perfect the back sides have never been cleaned and look out of the box the tires have 99% tread they the lug holes are perfect. Value

From what I've observed over time, there were several versions of these wheels. The earliest had the black part of your wheels in silver. They also had a larger center cap like a Cragar SS. It's somewhat dependant on what time period you are going for, but I think those would be the worth the most. Here is what they kinda look like:

This ad is from 1973 if you couldn't guess.

The real deal front runners are these one on racing junk asking $1900

This I think is the next generation with the blacken parts and the earlier center cap.

Your wheels have the valve stem still between the spokes and a different center cap than the early ones but also not the same as what is currently in production.

Current production with valve stem out on the rim and latest centercap with just a sticker inside.

For a value, I would argue that the wheels are nt really fornt runners. I consider 15x3.5 ot 15x4 to be those. I also feel the unilug isn't as desirable either. I think any vintage wheel in a lug specific, 3.5-4" width and decent chrome (driver/ restorable) is worth $500. I'm talking for real-deal items with manufacture dates around the genera of what you a person is looking to build. Anything less and you've found a good deal.

Since these wheels have a mid production center cap which might be hard to find a matching set (if somone wanted ones) AND the fact that the wheels are 6" wide I would say they are probably worth about $350 on the upper end if you could find someone looking for them. Less if you were tyring to motivate some not specifically looking for those.

I can't comment on the tires, so they may be the wild-card as they look to be in good condition and certainly have the old-school appeal

Im not sure what year they are, they have the cast center cap like the 73 ad, but with the larger openings with black but the valve stem is between spokes, 76-78ish not sure.

These are on ebay right now, and would be a nice compliment to those wheels, but they have the older center cap and art GM lug specific.

Looking at these more, there definetely is a different spoke pattern. There where two different rims.

Here's an ad from 1968, but I know the earlier ones had a silver painted center and the later ones had black. Don't know when they stopped making the ones with silver paint.

Can anyone else remember?

Mine have that 73 style cast cap, Those on ebay look quite rough, My pix are on a very high pixle with flash, just to look at them they look almost new never any rust or damage or scrubbing. same with the tires one even still has the dot sticker on the tire. Obviousley they had a couple styles the 73 ad the opening is smaller and the 68 ad is larger, mine have the larger opening, I have never gave it much attention till now.

I think, don't quote me, but there are 2 main styles of "Klassics".

There are the Keystone Kustomag Klassics, and the Keystone Klassics (now made by Cragar).

The early Kustomags I've seen with both black and standard cast finish centers, whereas the ones made by Cragar (current ones) are all black.

Here's a guide:

1. Early ones are all standard bolt circles- no uni-lugs.
2. The casting on the outer edge of the spokes are different between the two. Early ones are squared-off almost to a 90* angle, whereas the new ones swoop out to meet the hoop part of the wheel.
3. The center part (where the bolt circle is) of the early style ones is perfectly round, whereas the new ones swoop out to meet the spokes (more webbed look).

The old-style ones go for big money, whereas the new-style ones, not as much. I believe you have the newer-style ones.

Hope that helps.

Sorry to disappoint

As for value, you can buy them new from Summit for ~$170 to $200 depending on size.

As for the centercaps, that's another ball game. I've seen a lot of different styles. I think it's safe to assume the casted "Cragar S/S" look-alikes with the big "K" and small "Keystone" underneath it are the most correct for the early versions. The slanted ones both cast, and sticker-type ones are for the later versions.

EDIT: I'm digging into the valve stem location part of this, so there may be 3 types.

I like the old Keystone wheels, probably because they were the first Mags I put on my Chevelle.

I feel strongly that the ones which started this post are more desirable than the current offering by Cragar. I feel this way because of the higher quality- more detailed cap as well as the location of the valve stem.

It would be neat to see an old catalog posted, but I did fine this link tonight to be helpful.

I've now realized I really like the Rouge's.
