Hi Folks.
I need a clarification regarding the floor pans (transmission tunnel) in 1969 Novas in particular and third gen cars in general. With a bench seat, does the tunnel have the additional hump for a floor shift manual transmission, or is the additional hump (box?) for console-equipped cars only? Thanks in advance. Wayne |

Bench seat, no console, no hump.

You could also get buckets without a console - therefore no console hump. When running a bench seat 4 speed combo, make sure you put the hole in the right place as the shifter does not come up through the center of the tunnel. It also takes a specific boot/bezel combo that is curved to fit the contour of the tunnel.

Hi Guys.
Thanks for the info. I was seriously contemplating making the change in my Nova, but after making a hardware list, I think there's too much to change. And I'd likely be forced to use a bucket full of (potentially ill-fitting...I'm not going there) repro parts. The other (possible) big deal breaker for me was the steering column swap. I'm guessing a good stick shift column isn't the easiest thing in the world to find. Thanks again folks. I appreciate your help. Wayne |

I think the 70 and later Camaro column will work on Novas too. They're pretty easy to find in floor shift versions.

can any one tell me the exact location to cut hole in floor pan for bench seat/manual transmission. My floor pan was all cut up for shifters through out the years and I have replaced floor pan. Also, does a 1970-up Camaro/Firebird steering column work in a 1968-1974 Nova? Thanks in advance...
