my 32 made it to a friends garage/shop to get a 56 lincoln motor and trans today (and I gave him an open check to get the engine and trans hooked up, I don't have a shop or the knowledge, I will help a bit). the car was going to be 'kwizz buick blue' like his latest hotrod, but I think that would clash with the lincoln engine color. going to reverse the exhaust manifolds so I can save money buy customer headers.
what is puzzling to even the old hot rodder helping me, is the bell housing on that 56 lincoln is all aluminum and looks pretty cool. I never would have thought they would have used aluminum so early. Even the tail shaft on that huge heavy motor's trans is aluminum. learn something new everyday. I hope to have the only 32 ford hotrod with a 56 lincoln motor. The valve covers made the choice easy. going to hopefully learn how to weld a floor in, we will see how that goes. going to reverse the channeling and sit the body back up on its frame. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

They actually made a pair of factory aluminum valve covers for the Lincoln motors. Extremely rare.

yep, the 56 lincoln mark II had them. same engine except for those valve covers. they attach the same way as these. I am surprized these did not leak a lot with only 2 bolts. |

Ken</div></div> Ken, you may regret posting this, I will need help I am sure. I think I got the right dimensions for locating the radiator centerline (13" from the front spreader hole on the frame). We plan to locate the engine location today (all based on fan clearence to the edge of the thicker new hot rod radiator I got with the car, the previous owner gave me). then they can fabricate the engine mounts (which I have no clue yet on what they are thinking for that). what worries me now is that old generator, will it hit the frame. should know soon. |

the budget will dictate painting the car is the last thing I do. all I want to do is get it rolling to take for a cruise. I love the way the motor looks old, so no plans to paint anything yet. I got a corvette big brake set up from an old vette with the finned drums, someday I want to put that on the front of this car, with the elephant ears on it. that should be 'different', kinda like the lincoln motor. I found out one downer with the Lincoln motor, its going to take a LONG time to find a vintage edmunds? dual quad setup for it. A single stock 4brl should be fine for a while. |
