Camaro Specialties has listed another supposed "BE" rear for sale on eBay. They dont know why but the picture of the stamp did not show up on eBay yet all the other pictures did. Also, did not take note of any stampings on gears. ???
They were selling another supposed "BE" rear last year that was so poorly restamped that my 5 month old son could have spotted the fake. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Cama...sQ5fAccessories |

A lot of restamped parts come out of there. Read the answer to the question at the bottom of the auction. Very carefully worded.

Definitely a restamped BL rear end.

Well at least they added a pic of the stamping now. For a 42 year old stamping, that is the cleanest "BE" that I have ever seen in my life. Looks like it was done yesterday, or maybe it was

To BE or not to BE: that is the question!.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to take arms against a sea of troubles... Did Shakespeare have an L72 Camaro and need a rear axle assy?. Actually his words sound more like those selling them on eBoy!. ~ Pete

The other rear end from last year was a definite restamp as there was a groove where somebody ground it and stamped it. I was not surprised that it did not sell. This one was sold to us as is. I can verify that it is very clean, and just by rubbing my hand over it, it does not feel like it was ground down like the other one. Could it have been a BL turned to a BE? It very well could have been, however I do know that it was not by Bob.

If this is the case - you need to be alot more honest in your listings about what you know and what you dont know. I have a BE rear that I have been sitting on for a few years now - I know the history on the rear for years and have confidence it is real but if you do not you should really just state in the listing that you cannot verify the authenticity. |
