Default Speedometer Cable Clips

I've had to replace my speedometer cable.
It melted on the exhaust because the lower 2 clips, which hold the cable in place, are missing.
I can find the hole for the location near where it goes into the M22, but I can not find the middle location.
The upper clip, where the cable goes through the firewall, is still there.

Can anyone give me a hint as to where the middle clip should go?

I have felt around the transmission tunnel and up onto the firewall with no success.

I wish I had adrressed this while the engine was out for a re-gasket and cam change this winter.

Thanks in advance.
