My father-in-law came to visit us recently, and brought with him a couple old items he found around his house. Thought I would share them here. Anyway, I thought it was interesting to see how things have changed over the past 80+ years....
One is what I guess today we would refer to as an owners manual...the book cover says "Instructions for the operation and care of Chevrolet Motor Cars, Superior Model, Series V, March 1926 Edition". It is a 63 page booklet that is really an owners manual and service manual combined. Over 4 pages of that are devoted just to aiming and adjusting the headlights! ![]() Check out the warning about 'dumping the clutch' ![]() how about this Lubrication Chart... ![]() Not the type of detail you see in today's owners manuals... ![]() The other item he brought was a Christmas Card addressed to my wife's grandfather, postmarked December 20, 1929, from the "Aurora (IL) Buick Company". Evidently her grandfather must have bought a car there some time previous to that and, Great Depression or not, they were spending some $$$ to thank their customers. ![]() ![]()

I love this old stuff. We recently found mixed in Ann's stuff and old autograph book dating back to the early 1800's. Pretty cool to look over and think about the person who was signing it almost 200 years ago.

Not to get too far off here, but... picking up a piano last week for my nephew I saw an old paper framed on the wall at the house. It was a bill of sale for a 57 Metropolitan being sold in 1967 for $7.00. Weird thing is, this was on a wall in Sag Harbor and the buyer of the car was 86 miles west, right around the block from my nephew.
