So...outta nowhere, Bob Wagoner ("BWAG" here) pulls out another shoe box and emails me this photo with the Schmidt Chevrolet SS/DA Camaro loaded on the "Rig of the Time Period" Even though the 25 year old Urethane Daytona Yellow looks new, tell me what you think......Leave it alone or have Mark Lenhard (70SS_RS-L78) should blow the old paint scheme back on the car... MMMMMMM? Decisions, decisions

Billboards, Cragars, fat & skinnies: what's *not* to LOVE!
[If this needs to be undone, a less intrusive way would maybe be to do it in decals, or one of those "wraps"?] |

Love the paint BUT Day-2 is street cars. Inspected with tags, NOT trailered race cars. If a Day-2 car got to the drag strip in the old days it had to be corked up and the slicks removed to drive home and drive to work on Monday. Hence tow tabs like Sully's nova and others. If you want to paint that scheme on that car that would be great, IMO you just can't make a Day-2 car race only! That would be a drag car. The guy that painted my car used to do quarter panel and sail panel lacing all the time in the very early 70's. Throw some quarter window decals on that baby Jeff! Hang some Thrush header mufflers and Lakewoods on that baby too. Car looks great, its already Day-2!

I am going to take the same stance as Sam.
But for those of us looking for similar stance on our 69 Camaros... Jeff, please do us a service and share your suspension and tire manufacturer and size + the wheel size. Thanks, Dan

if that is still the old style racing suspension that bad boy may have 6 cylinder camaro or Moroso front drag coils. Those springs would make the car lift easier and faster to transfer the weight. Maybe 90/10's up front and 50/50's probably in the back I am guessing. Maybe origianl rear springs that are kinda sagging from age and some 15x8 L60's and maybe 15x3.5 or 4" E or F-78's on the front. How close am I Jeff?

Jeff, I like the idea of a wrap in the racing scheme...that would be the best of both worlds...and a bunch cheaper (Plus if you don't like it you can always go back)

Yo Ga-gootzz...you called that one correct. L60-15 on 8" Cragars on the rear with 50/50 rear shocks, Lakewood bars snugged against the frt leaf spring pad and 4 degree wedges on the axle pad! That was the ticket according to Bob when they did the "spinning rear tire starts". I have the old Racemasters 11.5 slicks and those rear deep Cragars on the shelf. The front....you called it DEAD-ON! Those are the SAME 4" Cragars from 1971 when Bob ran the car and they are on Goodyear F78-15's. They fill the wheel well perfectly! The shocks are 90-10's
