WOUNDED WARRIORS TO VISIT ADIRONDACKS
Wounded Warrior Project - Adirondack Adventure Weekend 2011
Fifteen men and women veterans, all part of the Wounded Warrior Project, will soon be participating in 4 days of challenging and interesting outdoor activities. This event will take place September 8-11 at the Adirondack League Club in Old Forge, NY.
Building on the success of similar events held the last two years, the Wounded Warrior Project has expanded the program for 2011. The Wounded Warrior Project is a national organization based in Jacksonville, Fl. Their mission is to “honor and empower wounded warriors” of the United States Armed Forces. This year’s event, sponsored by the West Canada Preserve, LLC and hosted by the Adirondack League Club, will feature fly fishing instruction, kayaking, hiking, sporting clays, a fish hatchery tour, fishing trips to remote lakes by floatplane and much more.
The Wounded Warrior Project routinely works with a variety of private individuals, fraternal groups, non-profits and others across the country to host and promote these types of events. Locally, the Towns of Webb and Inlet, along with the Adirondack League Club, and other members of the Adirondack Landowners Association, have contributed to the planning and development of Adirondack Adventure Weekend 2011. Many local businesses, individuals and Adirondack clubs have generously donated to this year’s program. This kind of cooperative effort between various individuals, clubs, business owners and local government, is the key to making events like this possible.
