Pie Pan was on Cicero and Peterson.....it was a drive-in restaurant where all the "Rich" kids like "Gags" hung around.......it was right next to the Edens Expressway and when there was a "Money" Race.......they waited for a Break in the traffic or they just stopped traffic on the Expressway and ran right there.......this was an early 60's Hangout and it was torn down (probably Late 60's) and Skill Saw built their Headquarters on the site........
After the Pie Pan's time passed is when Skip's on North and 1st sort picked the Car action up.....But that's another Story..........Now.......Why or how would a "Out West" Guy know about the Pie Pan......LOL

Thanks Ken. Any pix? Am doing some research on an owner and car that hung out there in early 60's. He described it just as you did. 'cept he wasn't a rich kid. Delivered appliances for Sears. But the part about proximity to the Expressway and the regular runs there was dead on.

Just came across your message about the Pie Pan Drive-In in Chicago. I just came across a menu from it 1950 from 1950. I'm attempting to add a photo of it. If it doesn't show up - send me your e-mail and I'll send you the photo.

Hi Rick,

Cool picture. I will have to give Jerry Z (2nd owner of my Max Wedge Plymouth-he's the one who used to hang there) a jingle and call his attention to this. I'm sure he will get a kick out of it. Can you post a photo or two of a couple of pages inside? Thanks!

I ate at Pie Pan many, many times as a kid. My doctor was right next to Pie Pan and when I'd get shots as a kid, my mom would take me to Pie Pan after. I was born about one mile from there on Kilborn Street.
