Welcome.
Chevrolet assembled 20,302 Z/28 Camaros during it's extended 1969 model year.
Others can add more details.

20,302 Factory production cars ?
These days it seems like theres more 1969 Z28's produced than the 40,000+ they did of the 1970 Chevelle SS's.
When i go to a cruise every car is out numbered 10 to 1 by 1969 Z28 Camaros.
It is a shame how many clones are out there and GM allows the aftermarket companies to produce full bodies now

The 1969 Camaro was recently voted "Best Chevy of All-Time."

The '69 Z/28 is easily one of the most popular '60s Musclecars.

There is a very active market for them; nearly 100 have sold at auction over the past few years. There's always a few for sale on the various collector car sites. This is good and bad.

Good, as it provides quite a bit to choose from and establishes pricing.

Bad, because many of the cars offered have had extensive restoration, often with non-original, incorrect or re-stamped parts. Worse, some didn’t start life as a Z/28. There’s enough parts and info out there to build a very convincing fake.

Chevrolet made a number of equipment and production changes over the course of the production run. It would be difficult to learn enough about all of the ’69 Z/28 permutations to properly assess a potential purchase. You mentioned reproduction body tags. Experienced people can easily spot them but they have fooled many. And that’s not the only body tag problem; real Z/28 tags have been swapped onto other bodies.

If you are contemplating a purchase it is imperative to have the car inspected BEFORE you buy. Well worth the small expense. Remember someday you will want to sell it. A quality car will always sell.

Best guy for a 1st Gen Camaro:
