In the diecast world, limited edition means everything. I'd say LEs usually peak at 2000 units. Why just 402? That's something I cannot answer, but I'm sure all 402 will be spoken for, no?

Used to be 2500 and up, but with new releases dailey, coupled with the slow economy, 300-500 is the norm now. Even then, if a limited edition, which may require extra work, thus a higher wholesale/retail price, they really crunch the numbers before placing a order.

I don't think it's due to the slow economy because these numbers have existed for years. I guess it's at a point where supply, demand, cost, and price all intersect? I bet demand will be greater than this.

Just going on what one of the major diecast companies told me.

I am not for sure if any segment of the musclecar hobby has not been affected by the slow economy.

-----Ertl/AMT talked me into making 2000 "Red Alerts" instead of the 1000 I thought would be about right back in the late 90s. They enticed me with a decent price break on all if I did the extra thou. Sales were basicly all over around the 1000 mark, however, just as everybody had predicted. I had to discount a bunch of them to get out of that business. No regrets but it would have done better at the 1000 mark.......Bill S
