I have 2 of the 142 manual boxes with aluminum tops that both came off 70's. One off the convertible, the other off that Atlanta car I have in there now. I also had one with an aluminum top that came off a 69 6 cylinder car that I gave to Ray a few years ago.

They are Julian dated.
The top one was cast the 328th day of the year and the stamp on the machined tab has a number which is the machining or assembly date 1 letter 4 numbers. The first being a letter (plant code?), next 3 being the Julian date, the last 8 or 9 being the year in which it was assembled. Julian will probably be within a few days of the casting - 33x 8 OR 33x 9. EXAMPLE BELOW:

Doesn't the f41 package on the SS cars have a quicker ratio? Any way to tell by the numbers an f41 box or just do a lock to lock turn?
